Major Bill Bowers (Rtd.) was born in Petrolia ON and in 1960 he answered God’s call to fulltime service as a Salvation Army officer. He was ordained and commissioned in 1962.

He married Joan in 1967 and together they served in numerous corps appointments. Joan was Promoted to Glory in 2001 and Major Bill continued on until his retirement from active service in 2003.

Major Bill serves as Corps & Community Services Chaplain at Lakeshore Community Church. He runs a Bible Study and Community Lunch; provides counselling to Family Services clients; visits shut-ins on Lieut. Sam’s behalf; and provides leadership for one Sunday evening service per month. He is a valuable part of the team!

Major Bill received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and this year will be receiving the LAMP Community Award of Merit for his service to the Lakeshore Community.

Major Bill has a son, David; a daughter, Debbie, and two beautiful grand-daughters, Christine and Jolene. He is a very talented painter and loves to make creative artwork.
